Maurizio Sarri Calls On Chelsea To Decide Future Of Eden Hazard

Dec 28, 2018 10:34 AM

Maurizio Sarri has told Chelsea that it is "time to decide" the future of Eden Hazard for the good of the club.

Hazard's deal expires in 2020 and he has yet to sign an extension despite aggressive attempts from Chelsea.

Hazard has been offered a contract worth more than £300,000 per week.

Hazard has made no secret of his desire to one day play for Real Madrid.

“I think that it’s time to decide,” Sarri said. “Will I sit down with him? No, because I don’t have the power to do this. I am the coach, I am not the president. I am not in charge of the market. I want to speak to him only about his position on the pitch. We have to solve this problem if we want to program the future.”

Hazard has been used as a false nine recently, but he has been clear he wants to move back to the left wing.

“I cannot see the problem of Hazard in this role – he played four matches [there] and scored three goals and made two assists,” Sarri said. “I am really very happy with him in this position because he is very able to score, first of all; very able to open spaces for teammates and very able to come to play with teammates.

“At the moment I am very happy with him in this position. In the future, he can play also as a winger, of course. I don’t know if he prefers to play as a winger but if he is able to play like in the last match in the centre, for me it’s not a problem to put him in the center.”

Dec 26, 2018 8:27 PM

Pep Guardiola said his side must win "soon" following a shock 2-1 loss to Leicester City, their third defeat in four matches.

Their recent struggles have taken City from first to third on the table.

Guardiola focused on the mental aspect of his team, saying his side need to regain their confidence.

“As soon as possible we have to try to win again for our mood, our confidence and our desire. You have to be confident to play and to come back...good results make miracles in the mind. Now there will be doubts but what we have to do is try to change the dynamic to win games and make good performances. But we are able to do that. I never doubt them.”

Jose Mourinho Still Believes He Has Future In Management

Dec 20, 2018 9:50 AM

Jose Mourinho believes he still has a future in management.

Mourinho indicated that he would take a break from football before returning to management, while refusing to apportion "blame" for why things had gone wrong at Old Trafford.

"I keep the good things and I don't speak about anything that happened in the club," Mourinho told Sky Sports.

"We could speak about so many good things, we could speak about not as good, but that's not me.

"It is finished, and Manchester United has a future without me and I have a future without Manchester United.

"Why should I now be sharing with you or the supporters any of my feelings? It's over, and that's me, and that's what I've always been.

"I've been critical of managers that leave clubs and come out and speak about details of what happened and who is to blame -- that's not me.

"I just want to finish, like it happened yesterday and I like to say it is game over."

David De Gea Moving Closer To Long-Term Commitment To United

Dec 20, 2018 9:26 AM

David De Gea is moving closer to signing a long-term deal with Manchester United.

De Gea has been unconvinced by the merits of a transfer from United to Juventus or Paris Saint-Germain.

De Gea has made no secret in the past of his desire to return to Spain, and was close to a 2015 transfer to Real Madrid. Madrid has since signed Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea.

Juventus couldn't match United's contract offer to De Gea and PSG has waning interest.

The only real threat to United is if Real Madrid or Barcelona change their mind and pursue De Gea.
